Craft Studio computer and camara are "working together" once again!

Hello, everyone!
As promised...ages and ages are some photos showing a little of my new crafting studio...without the new lighting. These photos turned out dark and I have tried to adjust them as best I could. At least they show the general concept of where I now work. (Everything is "mobile" for growth or ever all goes with me!)

Special lighting was installed after this photo was taken, so I'll take more photos with new lighting...once I get my desk cleaned up again...and right now I'm swamped with Stamping Classes and "Christmas Card Buffets"!

I do have some very exciting news to announce later this week, for those that live within driving distance to me! Stay tuned!

Thanks for hanging in there with me during my downloading tech problems. It's good to be back!
Have a great day! - Micki Daniel

Finally! I can once again download photos and post...

Thought I'd test the download program, with this photo:

It is good to be able to post once again!  Computer glitches are the "pits"! (They can take forever to fix!) lol

Have a blessed day!

New! 2014 Occasions Swap Card...

Here is the list of items I used to make my swap card...for the 2014 Occasions Catalog.
(Sorry, I am having camera/computer problems and could not download my photo of my card.)

To make my pocket card with "Gift Bookmark", I choose Simply Celebrate (page 30).  I also used stamps from: Happy Watercolor and From My Heart (AC)

Items used on "Simply Celebrate" Enjoy-Bookmark card:

Cardstock: Early Espresso, So Saffron and Whisper White
Ink Pads:  Early Espresso, So Saffron, Pear Pizzazz and VersaMark w/ E.E. Emboss Powder.
Ribbon:   Early Espresso 1/4" stitched grosgrain, Pear Pizzazz 3/4" Chevron ribbon
Tools/Other:  Scalloped Tag Punch Corner and 1/4" Corner Rounder Punch, Top Note Die, Square Lattice plus Stripes Embossing Folders, Big Shot, Sponge, Bone folder, Sticky Strip, Tom-Bo glue.

All items used above, can be ordered online, HERE.

Hopefully this information helps swap members to re-create the card they received...or use it to showcase the products used. (For all others, I will post a photo of card, as soon as I fix my camera/computer problems!)

Have a great day!

Another masculine card, with directions...

Although the stamp set "Feeling Sentimental" and the wide ribbon is "retired", this is a card that would work great for the men in your life!  Directions can be found below:
Feeling Sentimental by Micki Daniel. All images ©Stampin' Up!
If you were one of the lucky ones that has this stamp set, you're in business. If not, try finding a stamp image you have on hand, that will work as a substitute.

"Feeling Sentimental" Masculine Card Directions:
  • First stamp image onto a 4" piece of scrap Very Vanilla cardstock, using Early Espresso classic ink.
  • Punch out stamped image with the 2-1/2" circle punch.
  • Sponge the edges of circle with Early Espresso classic ink.
  • Insert one small round brad through the center of large wheel hub, then insert an extra small brad into the center of the small wheel hub. (Set circle aside for now.)
  •  Emboss a 4" x 5-1/4" piece of Early Espresso cardstock. (Use any 'masculine' design...just no flowers!)
  • Attach ribbons across front and around each side. Glue ribbons to the back side of embossed cardstock.     Shown is (retired) Early Espresso wide, stripped ribbon with our Very Vanilla crochet lace, glued on top.
  • Center and mat to a Very Vanilla card base with Tom Bo glue. (Card base is 11" x 4-1/4" folded at 5-1/2 ").
  • Now place 5-6 dimensionals on back (edges and center) of circle and attach over the ribbon (as shown).
  •  Stamp a greeting on inside of card base, using Early Espresso classic ink.   Your card is done!

Elegant, yet easy Punch card...

Here is a really easy card to make and it turns out so elegant looking in black and white! (but you could use any bright or bold colored cardstock you want, and it would turn out beautiful!  Change greeting for other occasions.

(Brandy Cox has a great video on making 10 cards in 20 minutes, while using this card layout.  I did not have the same stamp set she used, so I made do with stamps I had, in a similar style/design. I like how mine turned out!)

I ended up using two of the "Delicate Doilies" a set of 4 stamps...used medium doily for flower and a smaller doily for the border strip. I used "Perfectly Penned" for the greeting. (This greeting is also sold separately as a single, cling stamp.)

Although I show a large Rhinestone in center of this card, I liked using large Pearls for the ones I made later.
Note: I also made my border strip a little wider than hers...and I cut my white CS a little differently than she did. Mine is cut 5-1/4" x 8" wide, and then I folded it in half to create a 5-1/4 x 4" wide (white) card base.  My black  piece of cardstock is cut at 5-1/2" x  4-1/4" wide.

You'll need our 4 different sized Scallop Circle punches, to make the flower, plus the 2-1/2" Circle punch for punching out the "window".    (Click HERE if you need to order any of the punches or stamps.)

Thanks for stopping by the "Avenue of Art".  - Micki

Wedding card (case) with matching lined envelope...

Totally cased!  Saw a photo of this card and recreated it for a friend who needed a wedding card for an up coming occasion. (I'll see if I saved the name of the person who posted the original card layout, so I can give them credit.)

Although it turned out was time consuming. I had only the picture to go by.  There were no directions or cutting dimensions, so I just made up my own.  My card ended up being a 5-1/4" square card and used a 5-1/2" envelope, which I lined with matching DSP.

Thanks for stopping by the "Avenue of Art".    - Micki

(P.S. I finally located the original photo! It was by Krystal De Leeuw on Stampin' Connection. Thanks Krystal!)

A great Masculine card made for the "Swap"...

I used the brand new "Wetlands" stamp set...(has both images and greetings) to create this Masculine card.

Wetlands card by Micki Daniel. All images ©Stampin'Up
You can re-create this Masculine card by using: the Square Lattice embossing folder, watercolor paper, ink pads, Aqua-painter, both Oval and Window Framelits, Large oval punch and large Scallop oval punch. Also used were Early Espresso and Very Vanilla cardstock.  (Need the supplies?  Click HERE to order some or all!)

(As with my other swaps, I made a few extra cards to keep for myself. I plan on using them for masculine b-day, retirement, get well, and Father's day...I only have to change the stamped greeting, to fit the occasion!)

I hope you are inspired to begin creating your own unique, handmade cards.  It is sooooo much fun!!

Thanks for stopping by the "Avenue of Art".   - Micki

Another "Swap" card...

Here is another card I made to "swap" with others in the group.
I incorporated a fun embossing technique to get the unique focal point for the new 5-Way Flower stamp.

5-Way Flower card by Micki Daniel.  All images ©Stampin'Up
Besides the 3 different sized scallop punches, needed to punch out the different layers of the 5-Way Flower image,  I also used "Trust God" set (front greeting), striped embossing folder, Oval Framelits and Decorative Label punch.

Try making one for yourself...switch out flower, change CS colors and greeting to your choice!  It's a fun card!
Let me know if you have any other questions about making this card.  (More card swaps to come!)

Craft room almost organized...and a "Swap Card"...

I'm about to wrap-up my new craft studio (now organizing) and then I'll be able to take photos to share with you.

For now, the next couple of posts will be of some cards I recently made for a "Card Swap".
Backyard Basics card by Micki Daniel_All images ©Stampin'Up

I used the brand new "Backyard Basics" stamp set (die-cut framelits matching each stamp image, also available!). I also used Oval Framelits, Square Lattice emboss "Trust God" stamp set for front greeting.
Finished card is 5-1/2" x 4-1/4"

(I really liked how they turned out,so I decided to make a few extra, to give to friends and family.)

"Mystery Card" one guessed ALL five ways yet...can YOU ?

Can you name the five (5) different ways I used my Big Shot Machine to make this card?

So far, no one has guessed all 5 CORRECT ways I used my Big Shot to make this card!...although most came up with 4 of the 5.  This was a tough one for everyone...because one BS die is so useful we sometimes over look it in a posted card!
Try guessing (again?) before you check the answer at the end of this peeking, now!

Big Shot "Mystery" card by Micki Daniel.  All images ©Stampin'Up! 2012

Big Shot "Mystery" card close-up_ by Micki Daniel.  Images ©Stampin'Up! 2012

I used the following Big Shot items to make this card:

1.  The Petals-a-Plenty embossing folder on the square mat (glued to white mat).
2.  The Polka dot embossing folder on the white circle. (punched circle with the 2.5" punch.)
3.  The Little Leaves Sizzlits die to cut the leaves. (leaves were then sponged w/ old olive ink.)
4.  The Stripes embossing folder on the Melon Mambo mat (glued to Pink Pirouette card base).
5.   ??

Can you now guess the 5th Big Shot item I used?

Hint: It is a Big Shot die that is so basic that we usually over look it on a posted photo, and it was the first thing I started with to make this card.

Still "stumped"? You are going to kick yourself for not thinking of this one!

Answer: I used the Movers and Shapers Base die to cut and score my card base!
Although no one guessed all 5 answers correctly...many came very close!
(Check out the great answers found in comments section of post below.)
I bet no one will forget this die, next time they play a "Mystery Card" game!  lol

A big "THANK YOU!" to everyone who played the "Mystery Card" guessing game with me!  (P.S. Sorry, computer problems caused this to be posted a little later than promised).

(I have included a large, close-up photo for your viewing benefit.)

Use up your retired supplies...

With the new 2012-2013 Annual Catalog coming, there will be lots of new products that we will love and "want". Why not start now and make a bunch of cards for personal use...just to have on hand...using retired product? Make up "Any Occasion Note Cards" in give as gifts.   Here's a few "sample layouts" of easy card ideas:

Hint: Keep the design easy (for mass producing) and the greeting (if you use one) generic. Use DSP and cardstock you have on hand, especially if it's retiring...and make room for the "NEW"!
I hope you are inspired to make your own, handmade cards today.   (Order your supplies HERE.)

I saw this card idea (by Sandi MacIver) and wanted to try it.  Since I had no measurements or instructions to go by, this is what I came up with. I hope it inspires you to make your own card...just change the greeting, colors, etc... to make it fit the occasion.
